ILLW 2014 at JP0001, Taito Saki Lighthouse
More than 500 stations have sent their entry form of the ILLW, International Lighthouse Lightship Weekend, to Kevin, VK2CE, this year. I went to the Taito Saki lighthouse in the eastern coastal area of Chiba yesterday to take part in the event, but yesterday’s portable operation produced little result to my regret.
I overslept in the morning to begin with, and some mistakes and various unfavorable conditions made the day unfruitful.
The total of 23 contacts were logged on 40, 17 and 15 meter bands. Five contacts were made with oversea stations, but those were possible by calling them. No oversea station responded to my CQ calls. Two contacts with oversea lighthouse stations, 9M4LHC and GB4LL, consoled me to some extent.
