Portable Mito Castle 水戸城移動運用

日曜日に無線の友人と水戸城址へ行き、移動運用を試みました。結果は、残念ながらほとんど成果がありませんでした。運用場所のすぐＥＵ側に土手と大きな樹木があったことと、夏型のバンド・コンディションのために運用した午後の時間帯がベストではなかったことが主な理由かと思います。シンプルなアンテナの移動運用には、高さとか水面とか、なにかしら後押しをしてくれる要素がほしいのですが、マイナス要因があると難しいようです。

当局の交信数は１２で海外・国内は半々でした。場所の利用を認めてくださった関係の方々に感謝いたします。

A radio friend of mine and I went on the air from the site of the former Mito Castle, WCA JA-00118, on Sunday, May 12. The result was poor to my regret: I think that a bank and tall trees beside our antenna and the summer type band conditions of the day had negative effects to our portable operation. I logged twelve contacts of which half were with oversea stations.

There is a deep moat used by a railway now behind the bank. The moat divided Honmaru, the central area, and Ninomaru, the second area of the former castle.

Yakui-mon, or Yakui Gate at the entrance to the central area, near QTH. seen from inside. It is the only remaining building of the Mito Castle, and estimated to have been built at the end of the 16th century.
