ARRL DX Contest, CW

The CW section of the ARRL DX contest is being held this weekend as usual. I took part in it this morning by a portable station at a riverside location in Shiki City, Saitama, JCC 1328. This was my sixth consecutive participation to this contest from a portable location. I did not intend to compete but wanted just to say hello to CW lovers in the U. S. and Canada. I was pleased to have contacts with several stations on the East Coast on the 15 meter band.

It was not so windy early morning but wind got stronger later.

今日は、荒川の河川敷へ行き、コンテストに出てみました。早朝はそれほど風は強くありませんでしたが、だんだん強くなり、マストが折れるのではないかと少し心配でした。 このところ、毎年のように移動で少しだけ参加しています。微弱シグナルですので、スコアは気にせず、W、VEのCW愛好者に少しだけ挨拶できれば良いというスタンスで参加しています。

I tried a long wire antenna, about 30 meter long lifted by a kite, with a 10 meter radial in the afternoon for about one hour.

午後は、いつも持って行っているカイト・アンテナ（ロングワイヤー＋ラジアル）を上げてみました。主に１０メガで、国内交信をしました。別に珍しくない市（JCC 1328) でパワーも３０W程度でしたが、割りに良く呼ばれました。高さがあるので、飛ぶようです。もっとも、どうしても風の強弱があり、一時はエレメントの垂れ下がった部分が地表に触りそうになり、ひやひやしました。車内からはカイトが見えないので、折り畳み椅子に座っての外での運用になり、さすがにかなり冷えました。
