"The Iron Lady"
Am writing what I did almost two weeks ago. I saw the movie "The Iron Lady."
I had not kown much about Margaret Thatcher, but the mere fact of her premiership of eleven years and a half was very impressive, living in a country that had seven(!) prime ministers in the last ten years.
The movie makes me to wonder if we, the Japanese, are too concerned about consensuses among people and compromises to reach peaceful solutions.
The quotes below are picked up from the Inter-net afterwards, since I could not remember the sentences in the movie.
"People don’t think any more, they feel. One of the greatest problems of our age is that we are governed by people who care more about feelings than they do about thoughts and ideas. Now, thoughts and ideas, that’s what interests me."
"Watch your thoughts for they become words. Watch your words for they become actions. Watch your actions for they become... habits. Watch your habits, for they become your character. And watch your character, for it becomes your destiny! What we think we become."
(Margaret Thatcher in the movie, "The Iron Lady")
少し前のことになりますが、映画「マーガレット・サッチャー 鉄の女の涙」を見ました。
評判どおり、メリル・ストリープが上手に演じていて、引き込まれてしまいました。
政治や政治家について、いろいろと考えさせられました。
